NUAHP FMCA Leadership Pays Courtesy Visit, Pledges Support to Medical Director

The leadership of the National Union of Allied Health Professionals (NUAHP), Federal Medical Centre Abeokuta (FMCA) chapter, on Tuesday, April 28, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Medical Director of the Centre, Dr. Sarah Titilola Ibiyemi, reaffirming its commitment to supporting the hospital’s management in delivering quality healthcare services.
The union executives, led by Chairman, Comrade Pharm. Abdullah A. Abebefe, congratulated Dr. Ibiyemi on her appointment as the first female Medical Director of the Centre. He commended the management team for what he described as commendable performance since the inception of her tenure.
Speaking during the visit, Abebefe explained that the purpose of the engagement was to strengthen collaboration between the union and management, while also pledging the union’s full support towards achieving improved healthcare delivery at the facility.
He, however, used the opportunity to present a number of requests on behalf of union members. These included the employment of additional personnel to address workforce shortages, installation of air conditioning in the main store, improvement in the quality of services under the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), and the construction of a befitting medical laboratory building.
Other requests highlighted were the inclusion of union members in call duty allowances, ensuring a successful and transparent promotion exercise, allocation of land for a union secretariat, improved accommodation and allowances for interns.
In her response, the Medical Director, Dr. Ibiyemi, expressed appreciation to the union for the visit and acknowledged the critical role played by allied health professionals in the effective functioning of any healthcare institution.
She urged the union leadership to continue fostering cooperation with the management and to encourage members to remain committed and diligent in the discharge of their duties.
Dr. Ibiyemi also assured the delegation that management had already begun addressing some of the requests presented, noting that others would be given due consideration and handled appropriately in line with available resources.
She emphasized that achieving quality healthcare delivery at FMCA remains a collective responsibility, calling for sustained collaboration among all stakeholders within the Centre.
