FMC Abeokuta Calls for Professional Growth at NAEC 2025 AGM

Members of the Nigeria Association of Engineering Craftsmen (NAEC), Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abeokuta Chapter, recently gathered for their 2025 Annual General Meeting held at the Cardio-Renal Seminar Room.

Addressing the gathering, the Director of Administration, Dr. E.K.  Apanisile, called on members to improve themselves professionally by obtaining relevant licenses and certifications. He noted that doing so would open up better opportunities for career growth and conversion within the system.

He also reminded them of the need to remain disciplined and committed in the discharge of their duties. According to him, professionalism and dedication remain key to sustaining quality service in the hospital.

Dr. Apanisile further disclosed that plans are underway to open the hospital’s back gate to pedestrians, a move aimed at easing movement within the facility. He added that management is also putting measures in place to improve overall operations in the hospital.

Speaking earlier, the Chairman of NAEC in FMC Abeokuta, CraftsEngr. Ekundayo, thanked the hospital management for its support. He acknowledged the role of craftsmen in ensuring that hospital equipment and facilities are always in good working condition.

He, however, mentioned some of the challenges faced by members, including shortage of tools, manpower issues, funding limitations, and the use of substandard materials. He appealed to management to continue supporting the welfare of members.

Other dignitaries at the event, including the Director of Works, Mrs. Justinah Adeyemi; Mr. Ademuiwa Emmanuel, pioneer Chairman and Vice National President of NAEC South West; and DDNS Ola Alaran, all commended the association for its contributions to the hospital.

They also encouraged members to take their health seriously by maintaining cleanliness and adopting healthy lifestyles such as proper rest, hydration, and good sleep.

A lecture was also delivered by the Assistant Director (Town Planning), Oguntuyo Abosede, who spoke on the importance of professionalism and being registered in the engineering field. She encouraged members to keep improving themselves and to embrace new ideas, especially as technology continues to evolve.

The meeting ended on a celebratory note with the recognition of retiring members, Mrs. Adelakun Ibidun, Mr. Falolu Akeem, and Mr. Soremilekun Aliu, for their years of dedicated service.
