BRIEF HISTORY
The Haematology and Blood Transfusion department was founded in, April 2019 from the pre-existing Pathology department which had all the 4 pathology specialties as one department based on the Hospital Management Board’s approval. The pioneer Haematology Head of Department was Dr. A.L Onwah.
OUR FUNCTIONS
The Haematology Department offers clinical services for the care of patients with haematological disorders such as bleeding disorders, sickle cell deceases and blood cancers to mention a few. The department also offers laboratory services for routine haematology tests and blood transfusion services. Haematology department engage in research and training of residents from other clinical departments, medical laboratory sciences interns and students on industrial training.
Our Staff Strength
Staff from different specialties in the department include, Consultant Haematologist, Medical Officers, Medical Laboratory Scientist, Medical Laboratory Technicians, Administrative Officers, Research and Scientific Officers, Clerical Officers, Health Attendants and Porters.
