MEET OUR HEAD OF CLINICAL SERVICES

Dr Olusola Adebisi is a highly qualified Consultant Nephrologist, clinical administrator and leader of great experience in renal medicine and internal medicine. He has now been appointed as the new Head of Clinical Services (HCS) at Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Abeokuta, after a successful stint as the Head of the Nephrology Unit. He is widely recognized for his exemplary professional integrity and his dedication to the growth and development of institutions, and will add senior industry expertise, leadership and experience, financial accountability, and administrative ability to the table in his new position.

Clinical Expertise and Educational Contributions

Dr. Adebisi is known throughout West Africa for his knowledge and experience in caring for the kidney disease. He is passionate about preventive nephrology and spearheads community health education programmes, such as the annual day of World Kidney Day, to raise awareness and prevent kidney diseases. He has mentored, trained and supervised many resident doctors, medical officers and specialized nephrology nurses, and played an important role in the development of future health care professionals.

Leadership in Healthcare and Professional Associations

He has an impressive track record of leadership in organized medicine, which stands as a testament to his appointment as HCS. He was also the former Chairman of the Medical and Dental Consultants Association of Nigeria (MDCAN) Abeokuta Chapter where he created an atmosphere of harmony and academic excellence amongst medical and dental consultants. He is currently a Faculty Treasurer at the West African College of Physicians (WACP) where his financial management and administrative skills are trusted. He also served actively in the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD) and the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) early in his career, providing him with a wide knowledge of the Nigerian health care system and dynamics of the health care workforce.

Community and Civic Engagement

In addition to his professional duties, Dr. Adebisi is actively engaged in community development and humanitarian service. He is President of Rotary Club Oke Ona Egba District and is dedicated to the principle ‘Service Above Self’ with projects in the areas of humanitarian service, maternal health and community empowerment. He is also an active member of Abeokuta Sports Club where he serves as Social Secretary, which is responsible for social development and preservation of cultural heritage in Ogun State.

Dr. Adebisi is a dedicated Christian and has been and remains committed to his leadership and medical practice with integrity, compassion, and faith. He is also an active family man who is able to devote himself to his family, business, and civic duties.

Vision as Head of Clinical Services

Dr. Adebisi’s vision as Head of Clinical Services at FMC Abeokuta is to foster the clinical agenda of the hospital by implementing the following priorities:

Improve patient-centred care: Support evidence-based clinical practice, interdepartmental collaboration, patient waiting times and optimise healthcare outcomes.

Enhancement of Training and Research: Enhancing residency training programmes and promoting clinical research activities to keep FMC Abeokuta on the forefront in terms of medical innovations and academic excellence.

Helping to foster Institutional Harmony: Leveraging long years of leadership to enhance communication, staff well-being and cooperation amongst all clinical departments in the hospital.

His vision is to offer compassionate, world-class and accessible healthcare services to the community and beyond that are accomplished through clinical innovation, integrity and a commitment to saving human life.
