FEDERAL GOVERNMENT REITERATES COMMITMENT TO IMPROVE HEALTHCARE DELIVERY

The Federal Government has reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing healthcare quality in Nigeria, with a focus on reducing medical tourism.
This was emphasized during the official commissioning of capital projects at the Federal Medical Centre Idi Aba Abeokuta.
The ceremony was a celebration of the dedicated stewardship of Professor AbdulSemiu Adewale Musa-Olomu, whose tenure as Medical Director is nearing its end.
Dignitaries from various walks of life attended the ceremony, including Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun; Minister of State for Health and Social Welfare, Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako; Chairman of the Hospital Management Board; Dayo Israel, former governors; royal fathers; community leaders; religious leaders; family members; friends; staff; and associates.
Governor Dapo Abiodun expressed gratitude to the Federal Government for its efforts in ensuring quality healthcare services in Nigeria.
He also appreciated Professor Musa-Olomu for his leadership and pledged the state’s continued support for the Federal Medical Centre Abeokuta.
In a significant gesture, Governor Abiodun donated a model college at Onijanganjangan to facilitate the takeoff of the Federal University of Medicine and Medical Sciences Abeokuta (FUMMSA) by September 2025.
Dr. Iziaq Adekunle Salako minister of state for health and social media commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which prioritizes accessible healthcare.
He appreciated Professor Musa-Olomu’s leadership and called for the proper utilization of the newly commissioned facilities for public benefit.
The ceremony included the commissioning of new facilities, including:
– 100 Bedded Abdul-Azeez -Amosun Ward
– 80 Bedded Rafatu Sanusi-Amosun ward Building
– Works and Maintenance two-storey building
– Consultants’ storey building
– Laundry building and equipment
– And The new Morgue.
Dr. Dayo Israel, Chairman of the Hospital Management Board, expressed gratitude to the Federal and state governments, dignitaries, and stakeholders for their support. He pledged to prioritize public healthcare services at FMCA.
The Medical Director FMCA, Prof. Adewale Musa-Olomu expressed gratitude to all for his administration’s success, pledging continued service to humanity.
It is hoped that establishment of FUMMSA and new facilities will pave way for the transformation of FMCA’s into a Teaching Hospital.
