Optometry Association Pays Gratitude Visit to Medical Director
Friday, 23rd May 2025.
The Association of Optometrists in Public Healthcare in Nigeria, led by its National President, Dr. Emere Kingsley, paid a courtesy visit to the Medical Director of Federal Medical Centre, Idi-aba Abeokuta, Professor Adewale Musa Olomu.
The visit was specifically to express heartfelt gratitude for the Medical Director’s efforts in securing a one-year internship program for Optometry students in the institution.
Dr. Ngozi Irue, alongside other key personalities from the Optometry department, accompanied the association’s delegation.
During the visit, they lauded Professor Musa Olomu as a people-oriented leader who prioritizes staff welfare and creates an enabling environment for growth.
His humility and commitment to providing necessary amenities and equipment for the department were particularly commended.
The delegation expressed appreciation not only on behalf of the Optometry unit but also on behalf of the people of Abeokuta, Ogun State, and Nigeria at large, for the Medical Director’s impactful contributions to healthcare delivery.
However, they highlighted the need for additional office space to accommodate more doctors and facilitate smoother operations, especially for procedures like refractions and other standard tests.
In response, Professor Musa Olomu, flanked by the Head of Clinical Services, Dr. Adediran Adekunle, thanked the delegation for their visit and assured them that the department would continue to receive management’s attention, even as he prepares to bow out of office soon.
He encouraged the Optometry unit to submit any further requests to the office of the Medical Director for prompt action.
The visit concluded with a group photograph, symbolizing the strong partnership between the management of FMC Abeokuta and the Optometry association.
